Spring is a good time to explore nature blooming around the Inland Northwest. Spokane County Library District offers two opportunities to explore and learn about the amazing natural wonders of the area.
During the Saturday, April 27, Medical Lake geology walk you’ll explore the trail around Medical Lake with Chad Pritchard, associate professor of geology, and Larry Cebula, professor of history at Eastern Washington University. As you walk, listen to Pritchard share his recent research of Medical Lake granite and other geologic wonders in the local area.
The walk is for adults and families, and begins at the Waterfront Park picnic shelter, 1386 S. Lefevre St. in Medical Lake, and begins at 1 p.m. In the event of rain, the walk will be rescheduled to Saturday, May 11, at 1 p.m.
“Discover Dishman Hills: The Wild Heart of Spokane” during the lecture and discussion with Jeff Lambert, executive director of the Dishman Hills Conservancy. Dishman Hills has over 3,000 acres of conservation land, protected for recreation, education, and wildlife habitat.
Lambert discusses the five-year conservation plan and shares upcoming opportunities to join free and informative guided nature walks and hikes. “Dishman Hills: The Wild Heart of Spokane” is for adults, and takes place at the Spokane Valley Library, 12004 E. Main Ave. in Spokane Valley, Wednesday, May 8 at 7 p.m.
