A multi-tenant building will soon be going up in Airway Heights, but just who those tenants will be remains to be seen.
According to documents filed with the city, Legacy Interests, LLC is planning to construct a warehouse facility called Garfield Road Business Center at 1149 S. Garfield Road.
The center will consist of a 36,000 square foot pre-engineered steel building with space for three tenants and a large parking area. Construction is expected to begin in May and be completed by January 2020.
The building will be primarily used for warehouse functions, though each will have a small space reserved for office use. The site, just over three acres worth, has been vacant until now but is already zoned for this use.
According to SEPA documents, the tenant spaces will be constructed one at a time, with the space denoted “Unit A” to be completed first.
The registered agent for Legacy Interests LLC is Scott A. Haskins of the family that founded Spokane steel processor Haskins Steel Co. in 1955. Though the Haskins family no longer owns Haskins Steel Co. — the company, which kept its name, was sold to Los Angeles-based Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. in November 2013 — information filed with the city suggests that Unit A will be occupied by Haskins Steel and used as warehouse space. A representative for Haskins Steel indicated that this is correct, but could not be reached for further comment.
The other two tenant spaces, known as Units B and C, will be leased during construction.
According to city documents, the majority of traffic from the site will travel through the intersection of Garfield Road and Highway 2.
