Earlier this month, the Cheney Middle School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter showed off their skills at the 2019 Winter Business Leadership Conference in Spokane Valley. Twenty-two students competed at the conference, representing one of only three middle school chapters in the region.
Twenty students placed in the top six in their events, advancing to the state competition in April. Cheney representatives placed in 11 different highly competitive events, many of which featured participants ranging from seventh to 12th grade.
Cheney Middle School student Audrey Schlotter placed first in two events, Career Exploration and Introduction to FBLA Principles & Procedures, while Charlie Rajewski placed first in Elevator Speech.
Halley Doney, Rubie Loughery and Ellie McCombie placed first as a team in Critical Thinking, and Elijah Aguilera placed first in Multimedia & Website Development.
The FBLA State Leadership conference will be held in Bellevue on April 10 – 13.
