CHENEY
Dec. 3
Domestic violence/verbal dispute was reported on the 100 block of Fifth Street.
Third-degree theft was reported on the 900 block of Third Street. A computer was taken from a vehicle.
A 13-year-old male was arrested for second-degree assault and a 14-year-old male was arrested for fourth-degree assault at Cheney Middle School.
Residential burglary was reported on the 2800 block of Oxford Lane. A purse with credit cards and identification along with a Smith and Wesson 9 millimeter Shield firearm were taken.
Second-degree malicious mischief was reported on the 500 block of Third Street. A woman making a U-turn almost hit a passing bicyclist. When she stopped to check on him and apologize, the cyclist did over $1,000 in damage to her car.
A neighbor dispute was reported on the 100 block of Washington Street.
A suicide was reported on the 100 block of College Avenue. A roommate called to have a welfare check conducted on his roommate. The 20-year-old male’s body was later found by Spokane County Sheriff’s Office deputies near Soda and Andrus roads.
Dec. 4
Fourth-degree assault/domestic violence was reported on the zero hundred block of Columbia Street.
A 16-year-old male was discovered taking pictures of other students in the restrooms at Cheney High School and was arrested for voyeurism.
Possible child abuse/neglect was reported on the 100 block of Pineview Court. Investigation is ongoing.
A mental health issue was reported on the 2200 block of First Street. Male subject was voluntarily committed.
Dec. 5
Second-degree assault/domestic violence was reported on the 200 block of Simpson Parkway. Victim did not want investigation done, however as the incident is a felony assault, state law requires an investigation and a decision by the prosecutor’s office on how to proceed. Incident occurred Oct. 31.
Domestic violence/verbal dispute was reported on the zero hundred block of Second Street.
A student at Betz Elementary School reported finding a handgun while on his way to catching a bus to school in Airway Heights. The student said he picked up the firearm, pulled the trigger and the firearm discharged. He dropped the gun, ran to the bus stop and reported the incident at school. Airway Heights police were contacted, located the firearm and secured it.
Dec. 6
Police received a report of a domestic violence incident on the 200 block of South Cheney-Spangle Road. An ex-girlfriend entered her ex-boyfriend’s apartment, argument turned physical when she pulled a knife and threatened him. Male was able to disarm the female. Upon investigation, police arrested Lillyona T. Banks, 23, for second-degree assault.
A student had to be transported to Holy Family hospital after taking prescription drugs that were not his at Cheney High School.
A cellphone was found on the 600 block of Fifth Street.
Mental health issue was reported on the 800 block of West First Street. A male who overdosed on methamphetamine in August was still experiencing negative side effects and was given transport to Sacred Heart Medical Center.
Third-degree malicious mischief/domestic violence was reported on the 1000 block of Betz Road. No charges were filed.
A woman reported tripping over bricks lying on the sidewalk in the 400 block of First Street.
Dec. 8
Mohammed M. Al Balwi, 23, and Abdullah Al Qarni, 24, were arrested for nuisance code violations/loud party on the 1000 block of Betz Road.
An Apple MacBook, Toshiba laptop and a Sony DVD player were found on the 600 block of Golden Hills Drive.
Domestic violence/verbal dispute was reported on the 1000 block of Betz Road.
Dec. 9
Police responded to an early morning report of a fight with a possible handgun involved at Zip’s Drive-In. No gun was found, however as police were separating individuals involved, one man stomped on another man, causing injury. Police arrested Jay-Tee N. Tiuli, 22, for second-degree assault.
A wallet with identification, debit/credit card and coins was found on the 800 block of Summit Drive.

An animal complaint was received on South Stanley and East Campbell streets.
Harassment was reported on the 2300 block of South Salnave Road.
