For your contemplation: “Waiting patiently in expectation is the foundation of the spiritual life. Without patience our expectation degenerates into wishful thinking. Patience comes from the work ‘patior’ which means ‘to suffer.’...What seems a hindrance becomes a way; what seems an obstacle becomes a door; what seems a misfit becomes a cornerstone.” Henri J.W. Nouwen.

United Methodist Church

Celebrate the third Sunday of Advent at the United Methodist Church this week as our music staff lights the Advent candles.

Pastor Alissa Bertsch will be preaching on the unbreakable gift of Joy. Special music will be presented by the SoaRing Bell Choir. Prior to worship, at 9 a.m., there is a multi-age Sunday school class for elementary and middle school students as well as an adult class studying the book “Unafraid.”

Sunday afternoon, the chancel choir will present a beautiful cantata at 4 p.m.

This special holiday event is open to the public and will feature music by composer Pepper Choplin.

Looking ahead there will be two Christmas Eve services, at 4 p.m. and at 7 p.m. on Dec. 24. Both will be traditional candlelight services and will be family-friendly. The 7 p.m. service will include Holy Communion and will feature the chancel choir.
