Still time to sign up for Christmas Gifts for Cheney Kids

The Cheney Outreach Center is signing up families for “Christmas Gifts for Cheney Kids,” the annual gift-giving assistance program for those who need help providing Christmas gifts for their kids.

Registration deadline is 11:30 a.m., Dec. 12. Required documents are photo identification, Social Security cards for everyone in the household, proof of address and proof of all income. Those who complete their paperwork will also be eligible for assistance from the Cheney Food Bank, help with their children’s recreational activity fees and assistance with energy bills.

Prior to Thanksgiving, volunteers will place gift collection boxes at various businesses and churches in Cheney to make it easy for people to donate gifts. Financial assistance in the form of checks made payable to “Cheney Outreach” and clearly marked “Christmas Gifts” also helps.

Checks can be mailed to Cheney Outreach, P.O. Box 444, Cheney, WA 99004.

On Dec. 21, parents signing up for gifts will be able to make their selections at the Wren Pierson Community Center. In 2017, Cheney residents’ generosity enabled Outreach to provide gifts for nearly 200 children and teenagers.
