Cardinal volleyball snubbed by league, Free Press

Letter to the Editor

As parents of a daughter who played on the Medical Lake Varsity volleyball team this season, we have followed the program for the last six years. Over those years we saw the ups and downs, the wins and losses, the joys and heart aches. We saw this year how they improved and worked together as a team to go further than any other ML volleyball team in recent memory, making it to the district playoffs.

We would like time to thank coach Harr and Cromer for sticking with the program and getting the team to where It is at today.

But we take offense to your reporter who used “crawling baby” and “toddler” to describe the team. They worked very hard all season to get to where they are today, only to be snubbed by the NEA by not having a single player selected to be on the “All-League Team – team one or two.” Medical Lake was the only team left out, even though they beat three other teams and finished in fourth-place overall.

This decision was not based on players stats, but on how well the league players were known to the coaches and is more related to politics and a popularity contest.

Our team, school and community deserve better than this!
