Feed Medical Lake Nov. 12

Feed Medical Lake is serving spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, salad and cake on Monday, Nov. 12, at 5 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Grocery distribution begins 4:15 p.m. A soup and more lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 26.

On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, Feed Medical Lake is roasting turkey for the Thanksgiving dinner at the church at 2 pm. Please bring a dish to share.

Save lives at Medical Lake blood drive Nov. 14

The Inland Northwest Blood Center together with Medical Lake High School community volunteers led by coordinator Sue Anderson will hold a blood drive on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 9:15 a.m. – 1:45 p.m. in the high school’s small gymnasium.

INBC needs an average of 200 blood donors every day to meet the needs of more than 35 hospitals in the Inland Northwest. A single donation can save the lives of up to three people.

Cheney Scouts food pick-up

“Do A Good Turn Daily” is the slogan of the Boy Scouts. Cheney Scouts put this into action this month during the Scouting For Food program which became a national BSA effort in 1988.

Scouts will be collecting food donations for Cheney food bank on Saturday, Nov. 10, starting at 8:30 a.m. Please place bagged food on your porch or hang on your front door for pick up.

Canned and shelf-stable foods are best. If your donation isn’t picked up as expected, please deliver it to the Cheney Outreach Center at 616 Third St.

German-American Society celebrates Pioneer Day

The German-American Society of Spokane will celebrate Pioneer Day on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Deutsches Haus, 25 W. Third Ave. in Spokane to honor the thousands of German-speaking immigrants who settled in the Pacific Northwest. For this event, the Concordia Choir of the German Club invited the Austrian Choir of Vancouver, B.C. to participate in the song festival.

The festival begins at 6 p.m. with a special German-style dinner. Concert starts at 7 p.m., followed by dancing to the accordion music of Norm Seeberger. Admission is $15. All members and guests are welcome to attend.
