McMorris Rodgers is reason for good veteran healthcare

Letter to the Editor

Working in ticketing at the Spokane County Fair, I met a gentleman with a “Vietnam Veteran” cap. After I thanked him for his service, we had a pleasant conversation.

He told me when and where he had served and added that he’d been diagnosed with cancer.

When I asked if he was getting treatment at the VA medical center in Spokane, his eyes lit up.

He said yes, and that his VA doctor had referred him for a specialized treatment in Seattle.

He’d had no way to travel to Seattle, but they’d arranged a special flight to his appointment.

This gentleman was so grateful and overwhelmed to have that kind of care. He turned to leave, but came back and said, “And you know who I have to thank for it? Cathy McMorris Rodgers and President Trump!”

This gentleman, and all veterans, deserve the very best medical care and treatment. The improvements to Spokane’s VA medical center, under Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ leadership and passionate advocacy for veterans, are extensive and were long overdue.

I am grateful to Cathy for her hard work for our veterans and I am proudly supporting her re-election to Congress.
