Medical Lake drops pair of matches
Medical Lake had a winless week on the volleyball court losing a pair of 3-0 matches to league-leading Lakeside (9-0 NEA, 9-0 overall) and Freeman (8-1, 8-1) the current second-place team in the Northeast A League.
In an Oct. 2 contest at home no set scores were reported, but the Cardinals got double-digit assists from Megan Goertz with 15. Tori John had six kills and Hailey Sanders six digs for Medical Lake (1-7 NEA, 1-8 overall).
Freeman scored three easy wins, 25-7, 25-10, 25-7 with Goertz standing out with eight assists to lead ML. Courtney Daylo added six digs.
The Cardinals were on the road at Newport (3-5, 3-6) on Oct. 9. The Cardinals earned their only NEA win earlier against the Grizzlies. They host Riverside (1-8, 3-9) today, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Scoring woes continue for Cards
Medical Lake’s scoreless streak reached four games and six losses in a row following a 5-0 defeat to Lakeside and 7-0 win by Freeman in Northeast A League play last week.
Lakeside (8-1 NEA, 11-2 overall) got a pair of goals from Abbie McLellan and broke open a close game scoring four times in the second-half. Anastasia Hurt-Moran was busy in goal for the Cardinals (1-7, 1-9) making 10 saves.
Freeman got for four goals from Lindsay Balkenbush, three coming in the first half for the Scotties (7-2, 9-2). Hurt-Moran was called upon to make 19 saves.
The Cardinals were on the road at Newport (0-8, 1-10) on Oct. 9 and host Riverside (3-6, 4-7) today, Oct. 11 at 4 p.m. at Sheppard Field.
