Trulove to speak at PEG meeting

Former Cheney Mayor Tom Trulove will be the guest speaker at the Sept. 18 meeting of the People for Effective Government (PEG), a Spokane based non-partisan group of center-left and center-right voters who are committed to changing the current polarized and dysfunctional political climate to one of civility and common sense.

Dr. Trulove is a five-term former Cheney mayor and professor of economics, emeritus, at Eastern Washington University. The topic of his talk is “Experiences in Effective Government.”

According to a Sept. 7 news release, Trulove’s academic background in economics “is impressive by itself, but his experience in public service gives him a unique perch and perspective on how cities, regional councils, and state boards can govern effectively.” Trulove has also served on numerous regional and state boards stretching back to the mid-19080s.

The PEG meeting takes place Sept. 18, beginning at 7 p.m., at Moran Prairie Library, 6004 S. Regal St. in Spokane.

PEG intends to hold public forums every 4-7 weeks, from September to May each year. The next is tentatively scheduled for some time in mid-October.
