Cheney coat drive underway
It is that time of year again; time to collect and distribute coats for the Cheney Community Coat Drive. New or used coats for all ages can be donated beginning Sept. 6 at area schools, churches and several businesses.
Big Wash and local volunteers will make sure all of the coats are clean and ready for distribution in October. Distribution is set for Thursday, Oct. 11, at Sunset Elementary school, Saturday, Oct. 13, at Salnave Elementary School and Monday, Oct. 29, at Feed Cheney.

Beginners square dance lessons starting Sept. 12
The Hi-Flyers Dance Club restarts beginning square dance lessons on Wednesday nights, starting on Sept. 12, at Cheney City Hall, 609 Second St. The lessons run from 7-9 p.m. with teacher Adam Christman.
Please come casual, relax, laugh at our mistakes and have some healthy fun. Home schoolers may count it as physical education credit.
Lessons are $5 per person, but each person’s first lesson is free! And discounts are available for prepayment.

Cheney post office holds passport fair Sept. 15
Cheney’s post office is holding a passport fair on Saturday, Sept. 15, at it’s location on 224 Second St. The fair runs from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. and is on a walk-in only basis. No appointments necessary.
Those taking part in the fair should bring a certified copy of their birth certificate, current valid driver’s license and a secondary identification if from out of state. The post office is equipped to take passport photos if needed.
First-time passports are $110, with check, money order or credit card payments available. Other fees and/or charges could apply.
Feed Medical Lake features barbecue Sept. 10
Feed Medical Lake is serving barbecue chicken, baked beans, potato salad and pudding or Jell-O on Monday, Sept. 10, from 5-6 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 223 S. Hallett St. Grocery distribution begins 4:15 p.m., and everything is free.
