Ronald L. Moe

Ronald L. Moe, 74, passed away June 6, 2018 in San Diego, Calif. Ron was born in Pasco, Wash. His family moved to Amber, Wash. when he was three years old. He attended Amber School through eighth grade and was a graduate of Cheney High School class of 1962.

Ron joined the U.S. Navy and following his discharge, he enrolled at Eastern Washington University where he earned a bachelor's degree in math and computer science. Upon graduation from college in the spring of 1971, Ron married Myrna Rietz. The newlyweds moved to San Diego where Ron was soon employed by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography as a programmer. He held the position of manager of the shipboard computer group until his retirement over 30 years later.

Ron traveled to many exotic and interesting places around the world when he was aboard research vessels, but his greatest joy was to be at home spending time with his family.

Ron is survived by his wife Myrna and two sons, Darren and Derek (Serena) all in the San Diego area; his mother Gertrude Moe of Cheney and niece Ann Huber of San Francisco. He was preceded in death by his father Leslie Moe and sister Ruth Huber. A graveside service was held June 22 at Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Cheney Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
