Three golfers advance to state tournament for Cheney

Both golf teams will be representing Cheney High School at the 2A State Tournament as Katarina Ljubisic from the girls team along with Tyler and Nathan Koohns on the boys roster advance after their performances at districts.

Tyler Koohns finished second overall with 153 strokes. In the first round, he hit a 72 par followed by 81 strokes. Nathan Koohns earned sixth with 159 strokes. He shot a 77 in the first round and 82 strokes in the second. Eric Martin from Pullman finished first with 146 strokes.

As a team, Cheney took second overall with 113 points. Pullman took first with 151.

Thomas Baycroft finished one spot away from state at eighth with 161 strokes after two rounds. Other competitors for Cheney only played on the first day including Jack Kallem (108), Nate Elliot (111) and Donovan Hart (125).

On the girls side, Ljubisic finished second overall with 174 strokes. She shot an 89 in the first round followed by an 85 in the second. Alyssa Amann from West Valley placed first with 172 strokes.

Other finishers for Cheney were Hannah Lemelin at 13th overall with 232 strokes and Amelia Moore at 14th and 237 strokes. As a team, Cheney finished third with 100 points. West Valley took first with 205.

The 2A State Tournament takes place at Columbia Point Golf Course in Richland May 21-23.
