Ljubisic is third in GNL girls golf

Cheney High’s girls golf team placed third at the fourth Great Northern League tournament with 147 points on May 3. West Valley took first with 227.

Using the Stableford scoring system, Katarina Ljubisic tied for second overall with 48 strokes. Alyssa Amann from West Valley earned first with 58. After this performance, Ljubisic ranks third overall in the GNL with an average of 47 points. Amann is also first in the league with 54.

Other competitors for the Blackhawks included Halle Sargent, earning 30 points. Shelby Draper (28), Amelia Moore (25) and Ashlyn Wood (16) rounded off competition for Cheney.

Next up for Cheney was the first round of districts at the MeadowWood Golf Course in Liberty Lake which took place on Monday, May 7.

Ljubisic finished third in the first round with 89 strokes. Julia Lupkes from Pullman sits in first with 83. Moore was in 11th with 114 and Hannah Lemelin was 15th with 119 strokes.

The three Blackhawks continued to the second round, which took place at the Liberty Lake Golf Course on Wednesday, May 9.
