Work will require short-term road closures and detours for arriving and exiting traffic
Spokane International Airport will be installing new overhead signs on inbound and outbound Airport Drive during the next two weeks dependent on weather conditions. The new signage will provide passengers with the most up-to-date information and directions when arriving or exiting the airport.
In a May 8 news release, airport officials said work is currently being done on the sign foundations and supports but because the signs extend over multiple lanes of traffic, parts of airport in-bound and out-bound roads will need to be closed temporarily in order to safely install the signs.
The work is scheduled to be performed from 1 — 3 a.m. to minimize impact to passengers, airport staff, airport tenants and companies located near the airport.
The airport will still be accessible during these two-hour closures via detoured routes, and Airport Drive is scheduled to be reopened to normal traffic after 3 a.m.
The project will be split into two phases. The first phase will address a new sign on outbound Airport Drive and the second will address two new signs on inbound Airport Drive.
Road construction signs, barrels, and flaggers will be utilized to direct drivers into/out of the airport during these two-hour closures.
