Duane Lawrence Gillingham, a lifelong resident of Cheney, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 7, 2018 at the age of 57.
Duane was an outstanding football player at Cheney High School. He taught himself how to play guitar and he enjoyed writing music. He played guitar and sang lead vocals in several different bands with his friends. He will always be remembered for his love of rock and roll music, his unique sense of humor, his love for family and his big heart.
He is survived by his father John (Jack) Gillingham Jr., (Christina), his brother Randall Gillingham, (Sheri), his brother and sister-in-law Douglas and Heidi Gillingham, his son Isaiah Gillingham, and his grandchildren Anthony, Tia and Taylor and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his mother Arlene and triplet sisters at their birth. The family would like to extend appreciation to all of the medical staff and friends who have cared for Duane over the past several years through his illness.
A graveside service will be held Friday, April 20, at 11 a.m. at Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Spokane. A reception will follow at the Longhorn Barbecue. Visit his online guestbook at cheneyfuneral.com.
