Odell F. Milliren passed away April 3, 2018 in Spokane at 77. He was born June 26, 1940 in Pine City, Minn. to Franklin Milliren and Dora Dell DeChaney.
Odie was a Jack-of-all-trades, and a master of none. Odie worked for Northlake Concrete in Woodinville, Wash., ditch-digging and pipe-laying septic and sewer systems.
Odell married Shirley (Hartley) in Reno, Nev. in 1981. After the birth of their son Nathan in 1983 they moved to Renton, Wash. where Odie was Mr. Mom while Shirley worked at the state liquor store. Upon her retirement in 2003, they moved to Cheney to be near her family.
Odie enjoyed playing the horses, spending hours handicapping the racing form and betting at Longacres in Renton and at Emerald Downs in Auburn. After the move across the state, he had to settle on simulcast wagering at Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights.
Odie is survived by his loving spouse, Shirley; son, Nathan; step-sister, Gwen (Milt) Patrick; parents-in-law, Hal and Jo Hartley; sisters-in-law, Gail (Harold) and Ann Milliren; brothers-in-law, Mike (Lesley) and Eric; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert.
A service was held April 9 at Spokane Memorial Gardens. In memory of Odie, please share a smile and a hug with each other; he was all about the hugs.
