After a record-breaking 2017 campaign, the Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team is prepping for their new season with four contests scheduled for the spring, head coach Chad Bodnar announced Feb. 14.
The 2018 spring season has a mix of PAC 12 and Division II opponents with one match to be played on the EWU Soccer Field.
“I think the spring schedule is a good mix for our group. We have a smaller roster this spring and we have scheduled accordingly,” Bodnar, who is beginning his fifth year at the helm, said.
A matchup at the University of Washington on Sunday, April 22 at 1 p.m. kicks off the spring campaign. A week later, the Eagles host the Central Washington University Wildcats on April 28 in Cheney.
Eastern hits the road again on May 5 for another PAC 12 contest at Oregon State before wrapping up the spring campaign at Western Oregon on May 6.
“It’s also always exciting for our kids to play against PAC 12 teams and gain experience,” Bodnar said. “We will have an opportunity to get our players a lot of minutes this spring to continue to develop as a group and individuals.”
EWU is coming off a 16-6-1 season and won both the regular season and Big Sky Conference tournament championship and earned their second consecutive berth to the NCAA Tournament. They return seven goal scorers from a year ago and recently inked 16 new incoming freshmen.
