Despite cold and snow, bat and ball sports aren't far off

There’s more snow on the ground, an arctic blast emanating from the north and the groundhog said more weeks of winter.

So what better time to talk about baseball than right now?

That’s right, baseball. Sunny days, bug-infested evenings under the lights. Hot dogs, sodas and around here, lawn chairs behind the backstops and down the foul lines.

Baseball is beginning to happen even as the thermometer plummets, and for me and many other fans of the boys of summer (and in some cases spring) that gives hope.
