The city of Cheney is now accepting applications for funding for events that promote tourism in the city of Cheney. The sources of the funds are the lodging taxes that are collected on overnight stays in lodging establishments within the city of Cheney. Award of funds is made by an appointed committee twice annually.
Organizations that are looking at or thinking of sponsoring events or programs that would help bring people to the city are encouraged to apply. Past organizations to receive funding are Mayfest, Eastern Washington University Homecoming committee and the Cheney Historical Museum.
According to the city’s 2018 budget overview, Cheney is estimating revenues to cover the lodging tax uses at $190,500.
The application form is available on the city’s website at http://www.cityofcheney.org and clinking on the link on the home page. The application deadline is Feb. 28, 2018.
