Medical Lake wrestlers continued to be impressive as their 2017-18 season winds down, winning a pair of Northeast A League matches last week.
The Cardinals topped Lakeside 55-19 on Jan. 18 and then on Jan. 22 breezed past Newport 77-5 in a match that was rescheduled from Jan. 11 due to weather.
Medical Lake won its third dual in the last four outings. They improved to 4-2 in the NEA. Their final regular season match is tonight, Jan. 25, hosting Riverside on Senior Night at 7 p.m.
Notable wins against Newport came from Sam Griffey with a pin at 160 pounds. Chris Hurt-Moran (195), Weston Thomas (126) and Justin Warkick (138) all won by pins while Josh Figueredo collected a major decision at 145 pounds.
Skyler Peterson got things going against Lakeside with a tense 9-8 win and Thomas, wrestling at 120, pinned his Lakeside opponent in 5 minutes, 3 seconds. Those were followed by pins from Ethan Davis (132), Brayden Petersen (152) and Hurt-Moran (182). Warnick earned a major decision, 9-1 at 138,
