Spokane International sets record for passenger, cargo volumes

Spokane International Airport announced that 2017 established new record totals for passengers and air cargo activity.

According to a Jan. 23 news release, passenger count totaled 3,550,912, exceeding the previous record of 3,472,901 reached in 2007. Air cargo totaled 72,376.3 tons, or 144,752,600 pounds in 2017, exceeding the previous record of 69,217.6 tons set in 2015.

Airport officials attributed the passenger record to investments by American, Southwest and United Airlines in new nonstop service between Spokane and San Diego, Chicago O’Hare, San Francisco, Dallas/Ft. Worth and Sacramento....
