Cheney Congregational Church

This Sunday we are hosting David Millet, director of veterans resources at EWU to speak at our Peace Event following our 10 am Sunday Worship. Mr. Millet will be addressing the reintegration of our service members back into the community and the university. Please come and share this presentation with us following worship (about 11:30). We will be continuing our stewardship and covenant seasons. We are welcoming our people to renew their covenant to each other and our calling from God to care for the community and the world.

This year, Christmas Eve falls on Sunday. We will have one service at 7 p.m. There will be no Sunday morning service on the Dec. 24 — only a candlelight service at 7 p.m.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

All are welcome to worship with us this Sunday, Dec. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. You may also watch our pastor’s sermons on YouTube at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Cheney. Christian education for older grade school through adults begins at 9 a.m.

Funeral services for Marie “Eloise” Goodwin will be held this Saturday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. Reception will follow the worship service.

Advent mid-week 6 p.m. soup supper and 6:45 Holden evening prayer worship service continues next Wednesday, Dec. 13. Advent mid-week services continue through Dec. 20.

Mark your calendars for Dec. 24 and plan to worship with us at 10:30 a.m. for the fourth Sunday in Advent and our traditional candlelight worship service at 7 p.m. All are welcome. Visitors expected.

All are welcome to visit Emmanuel’s Little Free Library and Free Community Pantry located at 639 Elm St. Donations of books, non-perishable food and personal care items are always accepted. Both are open to the community 24/7.

United Methodist Church

“Ponder the Wonder of a Name” as we celebrate the second Sunday of Advent this week at the United Methodist Church. Pastor Alissa Bertsch Johnson will be preaching and pastor Pat Sleeth will assist with worship. Prior to worship there is a multi-age Sunday school class at 9 a.m. as well as an adult class discussing “The Book of Joy.”

Sunday afternoon the chancel choir and bell choir will present “Behold the Child, Behold our God,” a Christmas cantata at 4 p.m. at the church. The public is welcome to this wonderful musical event.

Later Sunday, at 6 p.m., the adult fellowship with gather at the home of Rob and Anna Meyer for a Christmas potluck and white elephant gift exchange. Ham will be provided so please bring a side dish to share and a small gift to exchange.
