The Medical Lake City Council sped through its Nov. 7 agenda, perhaps purposely in order to get home in time to see the first returns on election night.
With their meeting punctuated by a presentation from the Spokane Transit Authority on service updates (see accompanying story) for the future, the council was told of pending changes and enhancements to bus service in the community.
Notable during the regular business portion of the meeting were planned public hearings — and input requests — for 2018 property tax increases, and the 2018 preliminary budget. After giving each several minutes for discussion and audience participation, none was offered.
The first reading for Ordinance 1059, amending the issue of non-conforming use, was approved, as was acceptance of a $5,000 grant to provide added funding of Medical Lake’s Municipal Court.
The parks and recreation committee reported winter program sign-up numbers are up. The only public works matter involved the city’s compost trailer, which had its open time extended, but officially closed for the season Nov. 13.
