Marjory Lakewold Kallem, 84, passed away on Oct. 4, 2017 at Hospice House in Spokane from complications related to Bulbar ALS.
Marjory was born April 17, 1933 in Provost, Alberta, Canada to Roy and Beatrice Lakewold. She attended Holy Names College and Washington State University on a music scholarship before embarking on a 30-year career as a physical education specialist in District 81, Spokane.
Marjory married Donald Kallem on Aug. 15, 1967 and the two remained together through many adventures until Don's passing in 1997.
Marjory was a long-time resident of Cheney and an avid outdoorswoman and fan and supporter of all local athletics but especially enjoyed watching her Eags and Cougs. Marj spent her retirement years at her beloved cabin on Puget Sound, digging clams, collecting driftwood and entertaining friends and family.
Marj is survived by her children and step children, Kris Kallem, Dan Kallem, Jo Kallem Spaulding, Stephanie Kallem Hobbs, seven grandchildren and two brothers, Claude and Roy Lakewold.
Funeral services for Marjory will be held at Vinland Lutheran Church, Poulsbo, Wash. on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. Please send donations in Marjory's memory to Hospice House of Spokane and the Evergreen Chapter of the ALS Foundation.
