Flora Belle (Leigh) Dobbins
Born Feb. 17, 1929. Passed Sept. 25, 2017.
Flora Belle, based on her faith in Jesus Christ, has willingly taken her journey to be with her Lord in the heavenly kingdom. Her family was able to be there around her, much to her joy and they could lovingly release her for her journey.
Flora Belle lived a full and busy life. She was born in Spokane, Wash. to Ernest H. Leigh and Minnie Belle Linder. She was the next to youngest of three sisters and six brothers.
She attended Edison, Libby, and Lewis and Clark Schools in Spokane and Northwest Christian College. She met the love of her life, Glenn Dobbins at a young peoples' Christian conference, and they were married Sept. 15, 1946. They just celebrated their 71st anniversary.
Flora Belle and Glenn had four children, Steve, Ken, Karen and Bryan. The family grew to include Sue, Joyce, Edi, Cathy, Carolyn, eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Flora Belle worked at several places over the years, including Cheney Nursing Home, Lakeland Village, Cheney Medical Center and the Ben Franklin Store.
Flora had a servant's heart, and found many ways to help people. She also loved music, both singing and being sung to, enjoyed doing crafts and cooking. One of her ministries was phoning people for their birthdays, anniversaries and for supporting people in their needs.
Flora would want all to remember that life is a gift, and she valued life greatly. Services will include: a viewing Friday, Sept. 29 from 5-7 p.m. at Cheney Funeral Chapel, 1632 W.
