Gubrud’s big day earns Big Sky award

Thanks to a 650-yard offensive explosion by the Eagles, Gage Gubrud, Eastern Washington University’s junior All-America quarterback, was selected as the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week, Sept. 18, following in a 56-21 blowout victory over Fordham.

Gubrud passed for 399 yards and three touchdowns, and also ran for 72 yards and two scores. He completed 29 of 41 passes and had 471 yards of total offense.

Eagle cross country scores in Sundodger

The Eastern Washington University cross country teams competed in their second meet of the season at the Sundodger Invitational in Seattle, Sept. 16, where sophomore Colton Johnsen finished eighth with a time of 24 minutes, 45.09 seconds in the 8,000-meter race.

Senior Logan Stahl was right behind him with a time of 25:09.07, in 10th. First for the men was Johnathon Stevens from the University of Washington with a time of 24:11.92.

Sophomore Kaili Keefe was the top EWU woman, coming in 12th overall with a time of 21:39.27. Kari Hamilton-Scharnhorst finished 13th at 21:42.41. First for the women was Amy-Eloise Neale also from the U of W with a time of 20:29.87.
