The old notion that there is a problem getting places across the country — and the world — from Spokane is certainly something of the distant past with the most recent announcement from Spokane International Airport that yet another new non-stop flight was added.
Southwest Airlines (SWA) announced Aug. 28 that it will begin daily flights to San Jose (California) International Airport starting April 8, 2018 on a 143-seat Boeing 737-700 aircraft.
“We are grateful to Southwest Airlines for recognizing the strong passenger demand and need for nonstop service between the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene region and Silicon Valley,” Larry Krauter, Spokane International Airport CEO, said in a news release.
The new flight will eliminate time-consuming and sometimes unpredictable hub connections. It also provides additional access to Southern California, which is among the highest traveled markets from SIA, he noted.
“There is a strong passenger demand for even more nonstop flights to California cities from our region and we are thankful to have Southwest Airlines responding with this service as well as the seasonal San Diego nonstop service and daily, year-round Oakland and Sacramento nonstop service,” Krauter added.
Just a few weeks ago, SWA added direct flights to the California state capital in Sacramento, all adding to earlier news of non-stop service to both Chicago and Dallas.
