Churches

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

The congregation of Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites you to worship with us this Sunday, July 23. Coffee hour follows the worship service. You may also watch our pastor’s sermons on YouTube at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Cheney.

Emmanuel’s VBS Day Camp program is in full swing this week for elementary aged children. We have enjoyed welcoming familiar faces as well as some new ones. Our theme this year is “We are God’s Masterpiece.” Emmanuel would like to thank the community for participating in and supporting our Vacation Bible School program, and to the Lutherhaven staff for making it a huge success.

All are welcome to visit Emmanuel’s Little Free Library and Free Community Pantry located at 639 Elm St. Donations of books, non-perishable food and personal care items always accepted. Both are open to the community 24/7. Thank you for your continued support.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

A welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit. Rev. Christine Soule will preach and preside this Sunday.

Our community garden is growing as we look to giving its proceeds to the Cheney Food Bank.

Attention all college students: The Episcopal, Lutheran and Methodist Campus Ministry is on break for the summer. ELM will resume meeting every Monday at 5 p.m. for dinner, study and worship in September. For more information contact Soule at (509) 844-2553.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the parish hall.

For your contemplation: “Waiting patiently in expectation is the foundation of the spiritual life. Without patience our expectation degenerates into wishful thinking. Patience comes from the work ‘patior’ which means ‘to suffer.’ What seems a hindrance becomes a way; what seems an obstacle becomes a door; what seems a misfit becomes a cornerstone,” - Henri J.M. Nouwen.

United Methodist Church

You will always find a warm summer welcome at the United Methodist Church. Join us for worship this Sunday as pastors Alissa Bertsch Johnson and Pat Sleeth begin a new sermon series, “All Grown Up, Lifelong Lessons from Sunday School.” Sleeth will preach on the very familiar Bible story of Jonah.

Vacation Bible School is just around the corner. Mark your calendar now for Aug. 6-10 for this year’s program “Passport to Peru.” Please call the church office at (509) 235-4600 for additional information on VBS and other study opportunities.
