Seven Scouts receive Eagle badge at Cheney Court of Honor

A special Boy Scouts of America Court of Honor was held on Friday April 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cheney to award seven young men their rank of Eagle Scout. The event was well attended by community members who had come to show their support of these fantastic youth.

In addition to earning many merit badges and ranks along the way, these young men also had to complete an approved Eagle Project that benefited their community. Trevor Babcock, a Cheney High School student, built an informational kiosk for a Cheney park. Ryan Frostad, a North Central High School student, constructed shelving for a clothing donation room at Westwood Middle School.

Austin Geiger, a Medical Lake High School student, installed landscaping and a flag pole at a local cemetery. Andrew Jenkins, a Cheney High School student, built and installed 30 grave monuments for unmarked graves at the Marshall Cemetery.

Caleb McCombie, a Cheney High School student, planted and watered trees in an important riparian area. Kainoa Paikuli, a Medical Lake High School student, built and installed a new bench for a bus stop in the area. Dirk Ray, a Cheney High School student, built and installed a new bench on a local walking trail as well as made improvements to existing trail signage.

The boys honored that night are shining examples of the Scout Law, which is as follows: "A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.
