Matthew Hughes was born Sept. 9, 1960 in Spokane, Wash. to Ator Mont and Judith Adley Hughes. He joined a brother Sean and sister, Melissa Ann. He was the grandson of N. Boeyer and Elaine Adley and Ator and Glenna Hughes.
In 1967, the Hughes family moved to Eugene, Ore. where they owned for several years The Spotted Mule Saddlery.
