Lena M. Lackey, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Feb. 15, 2017. She was the daughter of Hattie and Jake Bowman of Echo, Ore.
She was born in Stanfield, Ore. on Nov. 14, 1923. Lena went to school in Stanfield and Echo. Her first job was as a clerk at the ordnance depot outside of Stanfield. She later moved to Marysville, Wash. with her husband Ray Harmon and their four children. They moved to Walla Walla where she worked as a teacher's aide at Pioneer High School. She also taught Sunday School at Pioneer Methodist and Grace United Methodist churches where she impacted many young lives in her teachings.
She moved to Cheney, Wash. with her second husband, Oscar Lackey, after retiring. Lena loved to play Bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs. She was a member and past president of the local chapter of PEO and of the Tilicum Club, and was a volunteer of the Cheney Historical Museum. She was also a member of the board of directors of Cheney United Methodist Church. Above all, she was a loving mother to all her children.
Lena is survived by her children Jerry Harmon and spouse Shiela of Clarkston,Wash.; Denny Harmon and spouse Cindy and John Harmon of Cheney and Janis Grandinetti and husband Gene of Spokane Valley, Wash. She is preceded in death by husbands, Ray Harmon and Oscar Lackey; sisters Betty, Berdina and Genivieve; and brothers Blair, Perry and Alan; and several grand and great-grandchildren.
Lena will truly be missed by her family and friends. We love you Mom.
