The Cheney High School boys basketball team played a solid game for three quarters last Tuesday in Pullman, only to have another offensively-cold third quarter deny them an upset of the fifth-ranked Greyhounds, falling 59-53.
The Blackhawks used good communication and a sharp offensive rotation to open a 32-24 lead at the half. But in the third, the Greyhounds upped the intensity and Cheney went cold, going 2 for 13 from the field as Pullman rallied with a 19-5 scoring edge to take a 43-37 lead they never relinquished.
