Cheney High marching band, color guard finish season

The Cheney High School marching band and color guard wrapped-up a very successful season of regional competition.

The band consists of 80 student musicians and color guard members and is directed by Rich Sonnemaker, Joss Wisswell and Heather Petro.

Students began practice in August and refined their performances in various events until their last competition on Oct. 29, winning several awards along the way. This year’s show was titled, ”Syzygy,” and depicted the line-up of three celestial bodies during the course of a lunar eclipse.

“This year’s marching band is the most talented group Cheney High School has had in a very long time,” Sonnemaker said at the Nov. 14 CHS Marching Band and Color Guard awards.
