Jo Carol Whiteley, 80, went to be with our Savior on Sept. 29, 2016 in Spokane, Wash. after a long battle with a progressive illness.
She was born on June 29, 1936, in Alderson, W.V. to Herbert and Beulah Arbaugh. Jo Carol married her high school sweetheart, Carl, on March 23, 1955 in the Baptist church. She was primarily a homemaker and a devoted Air Force wife. She was the mother of five children, 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
They traveled all over the United States during Carl's 28 years of service. She enjoyed growing violets, gardening, sewing and cooking. Preparing delicious meals for her large family and friends brought her great joy. She was a dedicated Christian and she served the Lord in the base chapel or the Baptist church closest to wherever they lived.
Jo Carol is survived by her husband of 61-plus years, Carl; five children: Cindy (Steve) Tilque, Jeannie Whiteley, Chris (Brian) Dirks, Carla (Tim) Edwards, and James (Shelley) Whiteley; grandchildren: Christopher (Ashley) Tilque, Brian (Carly) Dirks, Holly (Adam) Jackson, Maressa Dirks, Joseph (Sara), Jamison, Caley, Jesse and Tucker Edwards, Jacob, Jolene, James, and Joshua Whiteley; and five great grandchildren.
A private service was held Oct. 7 at the Washington State Veteran's Cemetery near Medical Lake.
