Kathleen was born in Baker City, Ore. Jan. 28, 1929, to Erma and Ray White. She was raised in the Oregon towns of Bridgeport, Sumpter and Baker.
As an only child, Kathleen had many memories and stories about her childhood in Sumpter, where riding her horse and hanging with her very best friend were her passions. Kathleen graduated from Baker High in 1947 and married in 1950.
After living in San Diego, Salt Lake City, and Baker again, she and her husband moved to Portland, Ore. where they were raising their six children, until they moved to the Cheney/Four Lakes area in 1968. Kathleen and her two youngest children moved into Cheney in 1975, where she happily lived out the rest of her life.
Both before and after retiring from Bearings, Inc. in the Spokane Valley, Kathleen enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, shopping for treasures at antique shops, second hand stores and garage sales, traveling, going to musicals, reading and documenting family history.
Kathleen felt so at home in Cheney, and especially in her later years, she appreciated and loved visiting each and every one of those she considered friends. They were always so happy to see her and take care of her at places like Owl Pharmacy and Cheney Trading Company, dating all the way back to the days when the store was owned by her dearly departed friend, John Gibson, the Library and the Recycling Center.
She is survived by her six children: Angela Rose White of Bellingham, Wash.; Raye Marie Winters (Bruce Nordby) of Kirkland, Wash.; Marilyn Winters (Bob Baughman) of Graham, Wash.; Tracey Goetz (Anna Rae Goetz) and Dee Dee Burger (Frank Burger), both of Spokane; and Di Rains (Rob Rains) of Mendocino, Calif. She is also survived by nine loving grandchildren and six darling great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all. A family memorial is planned for early spring 2017, when we will lay her to rest in the Sumpter cemetery next to her father.
