Cardinals rolled over by Newport

Not much is going right for the Medical Lake Cardinals on the football field who saw their season record sink to 0-4 overall, 0-3 in Northeast A League play, suffering a second consecutive shutout, 50-0 at Newport last Friday.

“We played a team we could have beat and didn’t compete,” head coach Mo Owen said in the wake of a second straight shutout. “I don’t know what to tell you at this point.”

Grizzlies’ quarterback Koa Pancho rushed for a game-high 127 yards on just six carries, while scoring two touchdowns. Jesse Reyes also scored twice. Tug Smith had three carries for 83 yards. Gerry Daniel Bradbury had a pair of touchdown catches.

Medical Lake was limited to just 102 total yards and gave up two interceptions.

The Cardinals will face another winless team, Riverside, 0-3 in NEA and also 0-4 in all games. Kickoff for the Hall of Fame Night contest is 7 p.m. at Holliday Field.
