Freshmen lead Cheney soccer to victory over Mt. Spokane

Freshmen power helped the Cheney High girls’ soccer team win their Sept. 2 season opener over Greater Spokane League’s Mt. Spokane, 2-1.

It was the first time the Lady Blackhawks’ had won their season opener since their 5-3 victory over Rogers on Sept. 7, 2013.

“They’ve worked so hard for this for so long,” Radtke said. “We came out with a lot of fire.”

Freshman Kailey Estrellado scored the first goal of her high school career in the 13th minute after she chipped one over the goalkeeper from 25 feet away.
