Carlon is new Lady Hawks BB coach

The Cheney High School athletic department announced Sept. 6 that former West Valley girls basketball coach Lorin Carlon has been named as the Lady Blackhawks new head coach. Carlon retired from West Valley at the end of the 2016 season after 13 seasons leading the Lady Eagles.

Before coming to Millwood, Carlon spent one year at Tekoa-Oaksdale after coaching for 14 years at his alma mater, St. John-Endicott. At St. John, he led the 1995-1996 Eagles to a perfect 28-0 record and a Class B state championship.

In a CHS news release, Carlon said he expects his new team to make an immediate impact in the Great Northern League with a solid core of varsity returners.

“I was already picking Cheney top two in the league based off of the girls from last year,” he added.
