Food for green fees coupons at Fairways Golf Course

The eighth annual Food Drive at the Fairways Golf Course is taking place Sept. 12 – 26.

Donate four items of non-perishable food (cans or boxes) and receive a coupon for 50 percent off green fees on your next round of golf. Even if you don’t golf, please drop off any donation at the Fairways Club House.

Feed Medical Lake meal feature’s shepherd’s pie

Feed Medical Lake is serving shepherd’s pie (chicken), salad and chocolate pudding on Monday, Sept. 12, from 5 – 6 p.m. at 223 S. Hallett St. Groceries will also be distributed at 4:15 p.m. (registration required).

Hi-Flyers square dance lessons begin Sept. 12

The Cheney Hi-Flyers Dance Club offers beginning square dance lessons on Monday nights beginning Sept. 12 at Cheney’s City Hall, 609 Second St. Lessons run from 7 – 8:30 p.m.

The Hi-Flyers feature popular instructor Adam Christman. Everyone is encouraged to dress casual, relaxed, ready to laugh at mistakes and most of all have some healthy fun.

Lessons are $4 per person, but each person’s first lesson is free. For more information, call Bob or Sharon Batty at 235-8770 or Grant or Lelia Smith at 235-6066.

Cheney Library offers free computer skills tutoring

Cheney Library is offering drop-in tutoring hours for basic computer skills and technology starting Sept. 12. The technology and computer training sessions are on Mondays from 3 – 5 p.m. and Wednesdays from 1 – 3 p.m., excluding any holidays when the library is closed.

Tutoring is available at no cost to the public. Trained volunteers will be available to answer questions about basic computer skills, such as setting up an email account, starting a social media profile, working with software programs and more. Anyone seeking assistance with a smartphone or e-Reader should bring their device in for some one-on-one help

Betz Fun Run/Walk Sept. 10

Betz Elementary PTA will be having a 5K or 1 mile Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, Sept. 10 beginning at 9 a.m. Registration and additional information can be found at http://www.betzfunrun.org

Cheney coat drive kicks off

It is that time of year again, time to collect and distribute coats for the Cheney community. New or used coats for all ages can be donated beginning this week at area schools, churches and several businesses.

Big Wash and local volunteers will make sure all coats are clean and ready for distribution in October. Distribution is set for Oct. 14, at Sunset Elementary School, Oct. 15 at Salnave Elementary School and Oct. 31 at Feed Cheney.
