The Medical Lake Planning Commission flew through their Aug. 25 meeting with a light agenda.
City Administrator Doug Ross told the commission that they need to come up with a new Comprehensive Plan for the citizens of Medical Lake.” We need to come up with a new document that is less confusing,” Ross said. “It needs to be a simpler document for communication and more user-friendly.”
In other news: the old Bruchi’s building in Medical Lake is now apart of Cela’s Creative learning center, which is ready to accept students this fall, along with providing daycare for parents.
One of the bigger news items for the city is that the Lefevre St. Bakery Cafe is now offering lunch. According to commission members, the place is packed from open until close and it is good revenue for the city.
Another new addition to the city is the former credit union has been replaced with apartments. The whole building will have apartments minus the bottom of the complex; a commercial property will be put in.
Ross also informed the commission about the city’s population status, “Our population will most likely not reach 5,000, which we need to prolong us (commission board) two more years,” he added.
Ross was honest and said that he does not think that they will continue without the 5,000 population.
“Things do not change a lot around here. It is not an insult, it is just where we are at,” Ross added.
