Margret Grace Fischer

Margret G. (Rosenzweig) Fischer passed away quietly on Friday, July 29, 2016 surrounded by family.

Margret was born to Carl and Helene Rosenzweig on Sept. 8, 1923 on a homestead near Cheney. She married James D. Fischer, Sr. on April 12, 1958.

Margret was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and sisters, and her husband.

She is survived by her daughter Marti Lockwood and husband Phil; daughter Peggy Haslebacher and husband Dan; son Jim Fischer and wife Rhonda; her five grandchildren, Alli Geenen, Brittany Lockwood-Richmond, Micah Fischer, Chris Haslebacher, Katie Haslebacher and great-granddaughter, Quinn Geenen, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

Margret spent her entire life in Cheney. She graduated from Eastern Washington State College with a bachelor's degree in education.

She also held various jobs throughout her life including Cheney city clerk, St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church secretary, teacher's aide at Cheney Junior High and even doing medical record stenography for the Seattle Seahawks in the first years they held training camp in Cheney.

However, her true calling was being mom and grandma to not only her family but also, anyone who met her. She will truly be missed, but never forgotten.
