Evan Egerer comes to Sutton Park for Summer Concert Series

Evan Egerer will be bringing his talent to Cheney for the Summer Concert Series on Aug. 3 at Sutton Park.

Egerer is from the Tri Cities and never thought he would be going into the music industry. His wife was the main reason why he started putting himself out there. "She really moves me to my dreams," Egerer said.

His wife encouraged him to not only put himself out there, but to put some money down and make a recording to help him achieve his goals. Egerer also never thought he would become a singer, but a pastor from his church encouraged him to sing, and he has ever since.

His music is best described as acoustic rock, but not the typical acoustic rock. Egerer used to have a band travel with him, but now he uses a loop pedal. A loop pedal is a device that records passages of music and vocals, and then plays it back to the crowd in a repeating loop. When completed, it sounds like a full band is really playing, but it is still a one-man show.

"I get pretty animated," said Egerer, "It is cool for the audience to watch."

According to Egerer's website, he takes "cues from bands like 'Needtobreathe,' 'The Civil Wars' and the 'Black Keys.'" He also travels with a 1967 Martin guitar, which he inherited from his father.

His single called "Distance" was released in March of 2015 on iTunes and is available for purchase, along with two other songs for $2.99.

Not only is Egerer coming to Cheney, but he was also selected out of a national competition to participate in Creation Festival Northwest in Kennewick, Wash. Creation Festival Northwest is a four day Christian musical festival that takes place in the Northwest and Northeast every year. Other artists at this festival include the "Newsboys" and "Family Force 5."

Egerer loves to give away free songs to his fans and interested people. "I always encourage people to go like my Facebook page and message me for a free song. I love to meet with the fans after shows as well."

The concert will take place at Sutton Park in Cheney on Aug. 3 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
