Eagles’ face Bryant in Legends game
Eastern Washington University will host Bryant on Monday, Nov. 21 and either Seattle or Louisiana Monroe on Tuesday, Nov. 22 in a four-team subregional round at Reese Court as part of its first appearance in the Legends Classic in the 2016-17 men’s basketball season.
The other semifinal game sees Seattle University take on ULM.
Bryant, located in Smithfield, Rhode Island, finished with an overall record of 8-23 last year and was 5-13 in the Northeast Conference. Louisiana Monroe of the Sun Belt Conference was 20-14 and Seattle of the Western Athletic Conference was 15-17. The championship and consolation games will be held on Nov. 22.
Game times and ticket prices will be announced at a later date.
“This is a great opportunity for us to host three quality Division I programs in a tournament at Reese Court,” Eastern head coach Jim Hayford said.
The Eagles will also play two other preliminary games in the event, which includes Notre Dame, Texas, Colorado and Northwestern. Eastern’s other games in the Legends Classic are road contests at Northwestern on Monday, Nov. 14 and Texas on Thursday, Nov. 17.

EWU soccer recruits are honored
A trio of incoming Eastern Washington University freshman have added another accolade to their long list of pre-collegiate achievements as Brooke Dunbar, Johanna Di Lulo and Saige Lyons have been named to the Top Drawer Soccer All-State team for their respective states.
Top Drawer Soccer, one of the premier amateur soccer websites in the country, announced July 19 its all-state, all-region and All-American teams. Lyons, an Evergreen State resident, made the team in Washington, while Dunbar and Di Lulo earned a spot on the California and Idaho teams, respectively. Because of their all-state nominations, the trio was considered for the Top Drawer Soccer TeamSnap High School All-American team.
“These three girls are a part of a recruiting class that our staff is really excited about,” third year head coach Chad Bodnar said.
Eastern Washington is coming off its best season in school history, as they went 12-4-3 overall and 6-2-2 in Big Sky action. EWU also returns the reigning Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year, junior Chloe Williams.
Eastern returns to the pitch on Aug. 13 for the team’s lone exhibition contest against British Columbia at 1 p.m. The Eagles will open the 2016 regular season with an Aug. 19 home date against Grand Canyon at 3 p.m.
