Sixty runners braved inclement weather conditions last Saturday to take part in the annual Happy Hoofer Fun Run during Cheney Rodeo weekend. Runners competed on a 3.6-mile course that started and finished at Veterans' Memorial Park.
Kari Silvers was the overall winner with a time of 24 minutes, 53 seconds with Tim Gainer finishing second in 25.28. Top three results in three categories are as follows.
Women
18-plus: Kari Silvers 24:53, Amber Marsh 27:25, Melissa Graham, 29:22
13-17: Sydney Owen 53:01, Jaden Fisher 1:00:30
Under 13: Kaida Dobbins 1:07:02
Men
18-plus: Tim Gainer 25:28, Dave Cook 27:01, Carson Kerr 27:35
13-17: JT Gasper 26:00, Thomas Collins 28:33, Henry Witt 41:04
Under 13: Shadrach Mason 28:31, Quentin Gainer 39:30
Overall, 90 runners registered for the event held by the Cheney Federal Credit Union, with all proceeds raised supporting the Children's Miracle Network through Credit Unions for Kids. Kathleen Schreiber, CFCU director of marketing, said the Happy Hoofer raised $1,320 to support the Children's Miracle Network.
