Guest Commentary from the May 5 Cheney Free Press issue: Laura Finley opened with “The ‘woman card.’ It’s so much nonsense,” “we really need to change the conversation when it comes to gender.” However, nearly 70 percent of her words refer directly or by implication to Trump v. Clinton. Prosecutor Finley raised the political issue. Cross-examination – allowed.
Prosecutor’s case: fair and unbiased? Trump-related words – unflattering, “sexist” (perhaps deservedly); but Hilary’s words – “terrific” and “importan[t].” Prosecutor’s witnesses? Hilary, Elizabeth (Native American) Warren and Gloria Steinam. Unbiased, really?
Who stands to gain from her piece? Women? Nation? Or Hilary?
Her case: Full disclosure or omitted facts? The “card nonsense?” Hilary divides us with a full hand of cards: race, immigration, woman, redistribution, resume, innocence.
Race card – division by race. Hilary claimed Republicans’ voter ID efforts were a “blast from the Jim Crow past.” Interesting! Democrats were primarily responsible for lynching, Jim Crow and the Ku Klux Klan (e.g., Lester Maddox, George Wallace). In Arkansas, Bill and Hilary celebrated the Confederate flag. Hilary’s mentors or heroes? Saul Alinsky, and white supremacist Senators Richard Russell (opposed anti-lynching laws and 1964 Civil Rights Act) and Robert Byrd (KKK member and organizer).
Immigration card – division by citizenship, law and race (finding new voters).
Woman card – division by sex: Hilary’s stump question “Don’t you want to see a woman president?” Or her support of Planned Parenthood, which commits hundreds of thousands of homicides yearly?
Redistribution card – division by wealth: Whatever Bernie makes free, Hilary matches. And the “rich” will pay for it.
Resume card – Oh right, nothing noteworthy there. But what difference does it make now?
Innocence card – We’ll see what the FBI finally says. The public already believes she’s a serial liar. If successful, will she reign from White House, big house or outhouse?
Finley claims needed improvement in gender equality. Is she not aware of Federal and State laws? Or that the claim “women make 78 percent” is well-crafted deception comparing apples and cherries? (Women working for Hilary-equal pay for equal work. Right? Wrong!) Birth control and reproductive freedom are not women’s issues? They are according to Hilary. And universally available – so long as someone else pays.
