Cheney competes at Post Falls

Both the Cheney High boys’ and girls’ tennis teams took a break from Great Northern League play to compete in the April 16 Post Falls tournament.

Ryan Axtell finished second in the boys’ singles division after he lost to Moscow’s Ian Wendt (6-2) in the championship match. Shogo Starr took third after Axtell defeated him (8-0) in the semifinals. Brandon Foster placed fifth after he lost to Post Falls’ Hunter Schertz (5-4).

In mixed doubles, Mason Van Stone and Caitlyn Strong finished second after they lost to Moscow’s Neerraj Utgikar and Victoria Wilk (6-1) in the finals. Hayden Bennett and Cia...
