Cheney’s Doney wins regional History Bee competition
Eight eighth-graders from Cheney Middle School competed in the regional History Bee competition in Seattle, March 22.
Dylan Doney won the competition and became the National History Bee state champion.
Doney, along with Lucy Nester, Rylie Potter and Luke Hamburg, qualified for the national competition in June.
Betz students fill care packages for airmen
Betz Elementary School second-graders from Cynthia Tilque’s class donated items to fill two care packages for deployed airmen from Fairchild Air Force Base.
Students also made cards, thanking the airmen for serving the United States.
Westwood students raise over $400 for SpokAnimal
Westwood Middle School National Junior Honor Society students recently completed its “Fresh Flower Friday” fundraiser where they sold 400 flowers and raised $420.87 for SpokAnimal. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help SpokAnimal provide food and shelter, vaccinations, treatment and medications for homeless pets.

The Medical Lake School District’s Thoughtexchange survey results are online.
At the beginning of the school year, the district invited parents, staff and community members to participate in a Thoughtexchange survey and contribute their thoughts, concerns and appreciations about Medical Lake schools.
