Eunice V. Pallviny Greener, born to Armand Victor Pallviny and Lydia Issak Pallviny in Leola, S.D. on March 26, 1923, passed away on Feb. 25, 2016.
She exemplified the love of Jesus throughout her life with kindness, compassion, generosity, hugs, radiating smile, prayers of praise, thanksgiving and concerns, words of hope and encouragement and letting others see the beauty of God’s creation through her eyes and heart.
Eunice was a loving devoted wife to her husband Walter Greener. They married July 3, 1943 and celebrated their 50th anniversary five days prior to his death on July 8, 1993.
Eunice is survived by George Greener, his wife Laurie and their children, Joel, Mindy, and Jonathan; daughter Lynn Marie Nereo (Philip) and their children, Darcey and Derek, and son John Greener, his wife Karen and children, Victoria and Angela. They had 14 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is her brother, Harold Pallviny. Preceding her in death were her son George, sister Elaine Pallviny, and her parents Armand and Lydia Pallviny.
Eunice graduated from Girls’ Polytech in Portland, Ore. She attended Spokane Community College and Eastern Washington University.
She worked at a theater in Portland, became one of the “Rosie the Riveter” girls and at the Perry Street grocery stores. Eunice retired after working 25 years in the recreational therapy department at Eastern State Hospital in Medical Lake. She was a deaconess at Liberty Park Baptist Church and over the years sang in church choir with the Joy singers.
Her hobbies and interests included gardening, of which she had an amazing “greener thumb” for vegetables and flowers. She enjoyed walking and was a finisher for many Bloomsday races.
She took part in multiple Bible studies including Bible Study Fellowship International, painting and art projects, reflexology and massage, reading, photography and travel.
Every day she saw the goodness of God and celebrated life. We look forward to a time with family and friends to gather in her loving memory in June with the date to be announced.
